Company update

Congratulations to the Neuroloom management team for winning the 2018 Panacea Stars Accelerator award and taking home £100K worth of non-dilutive funding for the business. Neuroloom won the prize at the Panacea Stars Gala dinner in Oxford on June 25th, for an exciting MedTech innovation that helps restore sight to blind patients.

Neuroloom is creating a biological connector which allows the image from a digital camera to be ‘plugged’ into the retina. The connector is a microscopic set of needles into which individual nerve cells are grown. It allows electrical signals to be passed directly into the nerve cells within the retina.

Neuroloom-pitch

The Neuroloom technology has the potential to crack the ever-present challenge of coupling electronics with cells.”

Dr Ben Wicks from Team Consulting had the opportunity to mentor and coach Michale Healy, Tord Fongaard and Benjamin Paul from NeuroLoom at the Panacea Stars Bootcamp in April.

“It was a privilege to spend time at the Boootcamp in April helping the NeuroLoom team clarify their message and approach. Their pitch at the Gala dinner in June was extremely good and the judges were obviously impressed with the science, business model, communication skills and drive of the whole team.

Here at Team we are working with increasing numbers of UK businesses pioneering the therapeutic and diagnostic use of electrical impulses (also known as ‘electroceuticals’) in-vivo. The Neuroloom technology has the potential to crack the ever-present challenge of coupling electronics with cells.”

We look forward to seeing where Neuroloom’s technology and entrepreneurial talent take them in future!
