New Team facilities match high demand for medical device testing

Team Consulting

Company update

Over the last 5 years Team has seen increased demand for “start-to-finish” services in medical device development projects. Supporting this demand has seen our staff numbers increase to over 100 and we’ve matched that growth in our new facilities, including an extensive suite of labs that can be used for a variety of in-house testing. Team now offers clients a ‘one stop shop’.

Our in-house capabilities include design verification testing (DVT). This helps ensure that the medical devices we develop for our clients meet their design intent and are suitable for their intended purpose.

Team’s investment allows us to assure the quality of the final output, something which is particularly important as our global pharmaceutical clients regularly use the results of our testing as part of their submissions to regulatory bodies such as the FDA. The quality data generated through our testing capabilities can be used for the client’s next steps in the clinic, a human factors study or regulatory approval on the way to a product launch.

Another new facility, our environmental lab, provides a tightly controlled environment that can be used for aerosol drug delivery device (ADDD) testing. This state of the art space is capable of adhering to the tight humidity and temperature requirements of ISO 20072, a key guidance document for ADDD DVT. Alongside our environmental lab, we have a variety of different labs on site that are flexible and can be adapted to suit a range of projects, such as testing respiratory and parenteral delivery devices, developing large engineering test rigs or making prototype test rigs.

A current high-profile development project we have been busy working on demands a ‘blood lab’, a controlled area that was created quickly from our existing facilities to meet the needs of this ongoing project. Our work requires flexibility and the ability to respond quickly to client needs, and having dedicated lab facilities on site makes it easier to do so.

Along with our expanding facilities, the team who work within them has grown too. We have restructured and created a new devices testing group led by our Device Testing Manager, Jamie Greenwood. This group of talented and dedicated people with backgrounds in electronics, engineering and science, apply their collective expertise to the nitty gritty of device testing.

Expanding our facilities and creating the Device Testing Group […] has further added to Team’s ability to provide the flexibility and skill-sets that our clients need

Commenting on the changes, Jamie said “We’re always trying to improve the quality of work that we do here at Team. Expanding our facilities and creating the Device Testing Group very much helps achieve this through allowing us to adopt a thorough approach to testing the products we help our clients develop. Having a dedicated team with a clear focus and interest in this area has really helped ensure the right expertise is available to our project managers when they need it most. This has further added to Team’s ability to provide the flexibility and skill-sets that our clients need, and we’re looking forward to taking on new and larger challenges as the company continues to grow.”

We happily welcome anyone to our barn if they would like a tour of our new facilities!
