Chris Baldock, UX Design Consultant

The best digital user experiences are simple and easy to use – intuitive. Achieving this takes a lot of hard work and expertise to engineer. This is especially the case in healthcare, where digital products need to work effectively at launch and cannot simply be optimised post launch, as often occurs in other industries. As a result, a lot of work must go into ‘getting it right’ during the development stages.

In this session, we’ll discuss what goes into making a great digital user experience in healthcare, highlighting key processes and learnings from real case studies in digital health.

Thomas Watts, Engineering Consultant

There are several consumer technologies with great potential for medical device development programmes. These technologies can accelerate development, shrink testing times, or decentralise data analysis; all to improve patient care. In this talk, we’ll examine the various technologies available and the key considerations for device developers.

Matt Chandler, Director of Mechanical Engineering

Taking the early steps in developing your idea for a complicated diagnostic device doesn’t need to be time consuming or costly. In this talk, we will discuss how we developed a demonstrator as part of a diagnostic development. Combining off the shelf components with some ingenuity and know-how, we were able to prove the technology and de-risk some technical issues while keeping the costs low. Having a demonstrator is invaluable for keeping investors on-board and raising new funds in the development process.

Oscar Mackay, Mechanical Engineer

Joshua Sheard, Consultant Mechanical Engineer

Simon Grover, Head of Mechanical Engineering Group

This webinar is for anyone developing new surgical technologies who wish to ensure compatibility with Robotically Assisted Surgery (RAS) systems.

While RAS is here to stay, it is not the only area for innovation in minimally invasive surgery (MIS). However, as the use of surgical robots continues to increase, it will be important to design new surgical tools that are compatible with them. Understanding the clinical needs of surgeons and patients, as well as the limitations of RAS, will be critical for designing compatible products that will be used successfully in real-world settings.

In this webinar, we will discuss numerous design considerations for creating compatible products, as well as how this can differ based on the level of compatibility required. The session will provide key information to make informed design decisions, which will aid in generating a comprehensive and robust user and product requirement specification.

Michael Herd, Senior Engineering Consultant

During this talk, we will describe how projects in the concept development phase can be accelerated by the intelligent use of design of experiments (DOE) techniques. Development areas where using a model-based approach to testing and system optimisation can yield the greatest benefits to a project will be explored, alongside examples when other strategies may be more appropriate.

Discover how the statistical DOE toolkit can be practically applied to a project and the key areas to be considered during the process to ensure maximum value is realised.
