Company update

As part of an overall company trend of organic growth in response to client demand, Team have recently expanded both our project management and medical device testing capabilities. Following the news of our certification to the new ISO 13485:2016 standard, the next area to be strengthened significantly is Team’s risk management capabilities.

Nearly 10 years into her highly productive time at Team, Laura McBirnie is taking on the newly created role of Risk Manager. Laura’s experience with drug delivery devices and combination products, as well as her background and interest in risk management, makes her ideally placed to further the continuous improvement of our systems and processes while ensuring best practice across the board.

Mark Di Cioccio, Head of Quality Assurance, comments, “This appointment is really exciting, as it allows Team to strengthen our offering in this crucial area and ensure that we are always up to date with industry best practice.

The medical device landscape and industry is constantly changing, and Laura’s diligence and experience in this area make her ideally suited to the role.”

…the creation of a dedicated risk manager role within the Quality team highlights the immense importance of risk management to all our work.

The creation of a dedicated risk manager role within the Quality team highlights the immense importance of risk management to all our work here at Team, and cements our commitment to fulfilling and exceed client expectations in all that we do. This also helps to ensure independence from the development process, as risk management functions had traditionally been the responsibility of the engineering and project management teams.

Commenting on the changes, Laura says, “I’m looking forward to liaising not only with different departments and areas of the business, but also with clients by working in collaboration and finding the best way forward together.

This builds on what I’ve already been doing at Team for many years, and the opportunity to take ownership of an important area of the business is very exciting.”

While the dedicated role of Risk Manager may be new, the history of risk management at Team stretches back to the early 90s, when we started looking at what other industries (such as automotive) were doing that could be applied to our own work in medical device development.
