Team Consulting is an employee-owned, award-winning device design and development consultancy. We focus solely on medical devices, supporting international clients from large pharmaceutical companies to start ups. As part of the engineering team, you will be working in our high-tech labs and workshop spaces which are set within our 13th Century barn in the Cambridge countryside, 5 mins from the M11.

Our clients come to us for all stages of medical device development. By combining our expertise and experience in design, engineering, and human factors, we help our clients develop medical devices from early concept through to commercial launch.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Graduate to join a motivated team of professionals and be trained to use the latest CAE technology, delivering projects for a range of international clients. Working as part of our Mechanical Engineering group, you will contribute to a range of product developments, from concept to production, in the healthcare and life science industries.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working in multi-disciplinary project teams to generate innovative product designs, diagnose problems and present potential solutions
  • Developing detailed components, mechanisms and assembly designs for high volume manufacture
  • Making prototypes, testing them and communicating findings to the Technical Lead and Project Manager
  • Using of a wide range of CAE tools and packages, across a variety of client projects
  • Adopting a thorough and detailed approach to documentation, some of which will be used to develop regulatory submissions

What we need from you:

Essential

  • A demonstrable passion for healthcare and medical products
  • Good degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering or similar

Desirable

  • 3D and 2D CAD (ideally Solidworks)
  • Medical device modules forming part of degree
  • Risk analysis (FMEA, FTA)
  • CFD
  • Finite Element Analysis (linear and non-linear) using ANSYS
  • Mathematical modelling (eg. using MathCAD, MATLAB, Excel)
  • Experience of working for a design consultancy or medical device manufacturer.
