Team Consulting is an award-winning device development consultancy solely focused on supporting our international clients in the field of medical device and healthcare products. We are an Employee-Owned Trust and are 100% medical focussed. You will work in our beautiful 13th Century barn in the heart of Ickleton, just outside central Cambridge, but still just 5 mins from J10 of the M11.

From large pharma companies, to start-ups, our clients come to us for all stages of medical device development. By combining our expertise and experience in design, engineering, and human factors, we help our clients develop medical devices from early concept through to commercial launch.

We are looking for a Human Factors Engineering Graduate to join our team in 2023 to help design and implement HF research programmes, in line with sound research methods, best practice and regulatory requirements, during the development of medical devices (for example, syringes, autoinjectors, inhalers, infusion pumps, smart devices and diagnostic equipment).

What you’ll be doing

  • HF analysis of medical devices including:
    • Identifying and analysing intended device users, uses, use environments, and required training provision
    • Researching known issues in use with medical devices currently on the market
    • Analysing and developing user interface elements using techniques such as Task Analysis and Perception, Cognition, Action (PCA) analysis and Heuristic evaluation
    • Identifying and analysing detailed use-related risks associated with using a medical device
  • Supporting the planning, executing, and reporting HF studies including:
    • Writing study protocols and preparing study materials (e.g., data collection forms and interview scripts)
    • Supporting formative and summative (validation) studies (primarily in the USA and UK) to evaluate device usability
  • Conducting data collection, entry, analysis, and documentation in a thorough and detailed manner.

What we need from you

It is essential that you have:

  • A passion for HF and usability related research particularly in the healthcare and medical devices sector
  • Solid experience of Word and PowerPoint
  • Use of Excel Databases
  • Structured and methodical problem solving
  • A thorough and detailed approach to data collection, analysis, and documentation
  • Good degree in Ergonomics / Human Factors HCI / Psychology / Design Research / Market Research or other relevant area
