The Tympa Ear and Hearing Health Solution has been shortlisted for the 2026 DBA Design Effectiveness Award! The portable, all-in-one hearing health system developed by TympaHealth in collaboration with Team Consulting, has been recognised for its impact on patients and design excellence.
The Tympa Ear and Hearing Health Solution is the world’s first all-in-one hearing health assessment system. The portable, smartphone-enabled otoscope allows healthcare professionals to perform ear examinations, hearing tests and ear wax removal in a single 30-minute appointment. Designed to bring the full functionality of an ear clinic into community settings like pharmacies and care homes, the device revolutionises the delivery of ear care, reducing long wait times and fragmented care pathways.
We are thrilled to celebrate this result with our client – the DBA Design Effectiveness Award has been running since 1989, giving impactful innovations like the TympaHealth system global recognition for effective design. The DBA’s awards celebrate the collaboration between the lead organisation and the agency delivering it, bringing design and business ever closer.
Dr. Krishan Ramdoo, an NHS ENT surgeon, came to Team with his innovative concept which we supported from the initial stages through to market launch. Combining our expertise in design, human factors, electronics and engineering, the system integrates a custom optical system, ergonomic design and cloud connectivity to enable remote specialist review. The device was rapidly brought to market and gained CE marking through an agile, multidisciplinary approach.
We recently sat down with Krishan to discuss TympaHealth’s journey to developing the world-first system with Team.
As a designer, it’s been a privilege to have worked with Dr. Krishan Ramdoo on the TympaHealth device since the day he first came to Team. This is a dream project for any designer or engineer: working with a start-up company who appreciates the challenges of medical device development and allows the design team to demonstrate the true value of good design, elevating a product beyond merely meeting user’s needs but surpassing all stakeholder expectations.
To be shortlisted for the DBA Design Effectiveness Award is the icing on the cake as it recognises the vital role design plays in our clients’ commercial success.
This recognition from DBA follows multiple award wins for the hearing health assessment system, including a Good Design Award, iF Design Award and a gold UX Design Award recognising its design, ease of use and patient impact.
