Team has been longlisted for the inaugural Dezeen Awards in the Wearable Design category.

Team are among 171 entries selected from a list of over 3,500 including industry-leading names such as Marc Newson, Fuseproject, Barber and Osgerby and leading brands such as Google, Landrover and IKEA. What is most encouraging though is that our entry is one of the only medical products of the 18 longlisted in the wearables category – proof that even when developing products in such a tightly regulated industry it’s possible to make the grade. This award nod recognises our talented design team’s work creating an iconic and unified design language for Sensile Medical’s range of injectors.

Based around the same core technology, Sensile needed Team’s expertise to establish an instantly recognisable ‘family’ feel for their existing range of injector devices. The final design is iconic, customisable, and reflects Sensile’s core brand values.

A key member of the design team on the project, Craig McGarrell, comments, “It has been a pleasure working with Sensile Medical on such a challenging and rewarding brief. We were able to produce a design language that balances both the user and commercial needs, tackling a variety of challenges in an aesthetically and functionally appropriate manner. Combined, these attributes create a unique and iconic product which breaks away from the traditional medical stereotype whilst strengthening Sensile’s brand and product offering.”

Commenting on the nomination, Paul Greenhalgh, Director of Design said, “We have a group of very passionate designers here at Team. It’s always been our ambition to create medical products that achieve the same quality of design and user experience as the consumer products we fill our lives with. Looking at the other products in the Wearable Design category, this seems proof that it’s possible. We’ll take this as motivation from the international design community to continue raising the bar.” The full award longlist can be found here.
