PODD Partnerships in Drug Delivery 2026

Team Consulting will be attending PODD 2026, where pharma, biotech and device developers come together to explore innovations in drug delivery – from self-injectables and wearables to cell and gene therapies.

Chris Hurlstone, John Burke and Kate Hudson-Farmer will be at booth 211, happy to discuss how Team Consulting can help you develop complex, innovative and award-winning drug delivery devices.

We are excited to be both attending and speaking, sharing expertise and connecting with industry leaders at the event.

Beyond systemic delivery: how innovative devices can unlock targeted drug delivery

Date: Friday 30th October 2026
Time: 14:30 – 14:50
Track: Targeted & Specialized Drug Delivery Platforms

John Burke, Managing Consultant – Drug Delivery at Team, will be delivering an expert talk at PODD.

The presentation aims to demonstrate that the technical development required to enable the delivery of a drug directly to the target tissue should be a barrier and when done strategically and effectively can deliver transformative care to patients.

The insightful presentation will cover the following key areas:

  • Access – considerations around how to access the target tissue
  • Delivery – the formulation and delivery system are intrinsically linked and need to be considered in parallel to ensure success
  • Optimising distribution – understanding and optimising distribution within the target tissue while minimising the risk of systemic exposure
  • Confirmation – using imaging or data capture, to provide feedback during delivery

Key challenges of getting new combination products to market: insights from 40 years of device development

Date: Thursday 29th October 2026
Time: 14:30 – 14:45
Track: Novel Devices, Self-Injectables, Wearables & Connected Devices

Chris Hurlstone, Director of Drug Delivery at Team, will be delivering a tech talk at PODD.

This presentation analyses 100 device development programmes carried out over 40 years. It presents data on the stages at which developments are halted from proof of concept through to detailed design, verification, validation, clinical evaluation and commercialisation, together with the broad reasons why.

Attendees will gain insight into typical drug delivery device development challenges experienced by others though rarely discussed, along with suggestions on how to avoid or mitigate such challenges.

At Team Consulting, we have over 40 years of expertise in developing drug delivery products covering injection devices, implantable technologies, connected devices and more.
