HFES International Symposium 2025

We’re heading to the HFES International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care. This annual symposium is a great opportunity for us to connect with innovators and sharpen our focus on the latest developments in the human factors and ergonomics industry.

Our human factors consultants, Ed Slipper and Jonathan Bainbridge, will be co-presenting with Gilead Sciences on “Using Human Factors Methods to Influence Device Component Selection in the Manual Delivery of High Viscosity, High Volume Drugs”. Learn more about this insightful presentation below and check out the full program of talks at this year’s HFES International Symposium.

We look forward to discussing the latest advancements in science, innovations in the safety of health care providers and patients and how Team Consulting could help you improve your regulatory approaches with our latest HF/E initiatives.

Using Human Factors Methods to Influence Device Component Selection in the Manual Delivery of High Viscosity, High Volume Drugs

Tuesday 1st April | 1:52 – 2:15pm EDT
Track – Medical and Drug Delivery Devices (MDD)

In this collaborative presentation Team’s Jonathan Bainbridge and Ed Slipper, and Elisabeth Knapen, Gilead Sciences, examine Gilead’s recent development of pre-filled syringes and syringe-and-vial kits for the delivery of highly viscous and high-volume drugs. They will provide key insight into:

  • Team Consulting’s role in assisting Gilead’s newly commissioned human factors activities during the early stages of their drug delivery device development
  • The integration of human factors studies alongside laboratory testing to assess user capabilities, injection forces and patient experience to ensure safe and effective device use
  • How human factors activities optimise device development by identifying issues early, improving patient experience and reducing costs before clinical trials
