Designing the difference – Team
Consulting helps Energist break into the aesthetic
medical market
A new skin rejuvenation and hair removal system
from Energist Ltd owes its striking looks to
the design skills of Team Consulting.
The VARIMED is a ‘Variable Pulsed Light’ system
aimed at the aesthetic medical market, and is
used for speeding the healing process of scar
tissue and to aid the permanent removal of hair.
It has been designed specifically to permit clinicians
to adapt the treatment and customise it for each
individual patient.
Energist, established in the beauty therapy
sector, approached Team to develop a visual identity
for their system that would help them break into
the medical marketplace. To make an impact in
this competitive arena, Team’s designers
knew that the machine needed to be strongly differentiated
from the competition whilst suitable for the
clinical environment and appropriate for use
by cosmetic surgeons. Energist was keen to support
a bold approach to the design of their new machine.
Team developed an unusually pure and minimalist
aesthetic which set the machine apart from its
competition. The design was suitable for medium
volume manufacture and practical in use – accommodating
the needs of field service engineers.
In addition, Team assessed and selected manufacturing
partners and component suppliers. Working closely
with Energist and the chosen suppliers through
prototyping to the final build of the first production
machines, Team’s integrated approach ensured
a smooth transition from design through to manufacture.

like the clean lines of this state-of-the-art
