Matt is responsible for a team of mechanical engineers. His role combines mechanical engineering and product development alongside the development and support of his team. He makes use of his sector domain knowledge in MedTech to explore new opportunities.

Matt has an analytical background which he applies to complex technical problems. He is particularly experienced at the early stages of concept development, generating novel ideas across a broad range of products and systems.

“I enjoy working on complex systems that combine disciplines, particularly where the user or patient is the focus. This is one of the reasons that medical devices are so interesting – there are often very challenging interactions with different stakeholders as well as demanding technical considerations, all within a regulatory framework. Pulling it all together successfully is very satisfying – these products and technologies will change the landscape of healthcare which is extremely exciting!”

“Team Consulting has a fantastic track-record for medical device development. I think it’s great to have the medical focus and Team also brings a huge wealth of usability experience which plays a big part in developing successful products.”

Matt has an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath, with a focus on biomechanics, medical engineering and structural simulation using finite element analysis (FEA). He further developed these specialties at Adidas, engineering and optimising sporting goods using non-linear FEA, liaising with industrial designers and interacting with product testers.

Matt has over 17 years of experience in technical consultancy, developing products and technologies for a diverse range of applications and industries. At another medical device and consumer product consultancy, he fulfilled sector development roles in pharmaceutical process and in-vitro diagnostics and latterly as a principal consultant in the mechanical systems group.
