David Robinson
Design Consultant

David is a design consultant at Team and is responsible for delivering considered industrial design solutions, tailored to the client’s needs. He has experience across a wide variety of projects and sectors, including drug delivery devices and organ transplant systems.

“My job is to thoroughly understand what our clients are trying to achieve and identify creative solutions to solve their problems. A successful project for me balances the multiple demands of market, user, regulatory and technical requirements. To achieve this we thoroughly dissect the problem, look at the problem at a top level and in detail, and ask ourselves: what are the engineering challenges? What are the possibilities of the technology? Who are the users?  What are their needs, behaviours and desires? What system does the product fit within? This approach gives is us key insights into the problem and allows us to understand the challenges holistically.

My role, which requires a high level of rigour and discipline, allows me to work across the company on a myriad of projects with a talented team of individuals with different skills, expertise, talents and interests. This blend of individuals allows us to deliver human-centred products that are technologically feasible and economically viable.”

David joined Team in 2009 and brings with him experience of industrial design and creativity acquired while working in the pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare environment.

David grew up in Dubai, not leaving until his late teens to continue his education in the UK. After completing a BA in Design for Industry at the University of Northumbria – during which he won multiple design awards including the RSA Design Directions healthcare competition – he worked for VTech and Hayco, both in the Far East, before joining GSK’s device technology group.
