Andy Fry to present at PDA Europe pre-conference workshop

With an estimated 382 million people living with either type one or type two diabetes worldwide, diabetes medication and support is a significant expenditure to healthcare systems around the globe, with spending totalling approximately $550 billion per year. In the pre-conference workshop session, Andy Fry will be co-presenting with Dr. Marcus Hompesch, President, CEO and a founder of the Profil Institute for Clinical Research, a leading clinical research organisation focused on diabetes. Also co-presenting will be Chris Cottrell, a Diabetes Specialist Nurse and Think Glucose Coordinator at Hywel Dda University Health Board in South Wales. Each of the three speakers will be addressing different aspects of diabetes. Dr. Hompesch will be considering the clinical perspective of the condition, its impact and treatments. Chris Cottrell will follow by discussing treatment in the community and sharing insights from her day to day experience within the NHS in Wales.

Andy Fry will conclude the workshop session by reviewing what it takes to manage diabetes, issues surrounding adherence to medication, and the opportunities for an approach combining electronics and IT with behavioural science to make a significant improvement in how we manage the condition, and a discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing the device developer.
